BOCA RATON DENTIST EXPLAINS HOW DENTAL VENEERS ARE USED TO CHANGE THE STRUCTURE OF A PATIENT’S SMILE
Tuesday, August 28, 2012
Some patients have cosmetic problems with their teeth that they truly believe are beyond changing. Some of these patients have certain teeth that are irregularly shaped, or teeth that are too small for their features. Other patients have teeth that have uneven edges and appear to be damaged. Obviously, no amount of teeth whitening or orthodontics will correct these problems—there is, however, one cosmetic treatment that can help your smile appear balanced, seamless, and proportional, dental veneers.
How Can Veneers Improve My Smile?
As you may already know, dental veneers are thin layers of porcelain that are attached directly to existing teeth in order to give the teeth an aesthetically enhanced appearance. In our Boca Raton dental office we use dental veneers to correct a wide number of common cosmetic problems, ranging from dark enamel to damaged teeth.
Because veneers completely cover existing teeth, they can be used to actually change the shape and size of teeth. If you have some teeth that seem too small in comparison to the rest of your mouth, for example, our dentists can craft veneers that are wider or longer than your natural teeth, making your smile appear more in-proportion. Veneers can also be used to refine the appearance of uneven enamel edges, or to close large gaps between teeth without using orthodontics.
How Are Porcelain Veneers Placed
Dental veneers can generally be placed in only two or three appointments—making them an ideal option for patients who want to achieve a stunning smile in a short amount of time. Veneers are a permanent cosmetic treatment—meaning that they are not easily removed—and with proper care they can last 10 or 15 years.
